Direct Energy Business Offers Retail Natural Gas Services for Small Business Customers in Pacific Gas & Electric Territory
Pittsburgh, PA (September 23, 2014) - Direct Energy Business is now providing competitive natural gas supply services to small business customers in the Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) territory, which serves natural gas and electric service to approximately 16 million people in northern and central California. With increased competition providing opportunities for customers to choose their supplier and realize better gas pricing, small business customers now have an attractive new choice from one of North America's largest integrated energy companies: a 12-month fixed price product.
Direct Energy Business will be offering a 12-month fixed supply rate that will allow customers to control costs year round and help avoid price increases related to extreme weather events. A small business customer is defined as any commercial customer with up to 10,000 dekatherms in annual natural gas usage.
“California has a presence in competitive energy markets, with the supportive efforts of legislators and utility regulators," said Stephen Girard, head of small business for Direct Energy Business. “We are confident that our fixed price offer is competitive in the market and will help give our small business customers better control of their natural gas costs and help them make their businesses better.”
In April 2013, Direct Energy Business expanded its natural gas offerings into PG&E for its larger business customers. Direct Energy already has a strong and established presence in California serving commercial and industrial customers with electric products, as well as energy services through its One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, and Mister Sparky brands.
