Xpress Natural Gas and Direct Energy Business Break Ground on Compressed Natural Gas
Production Facility and Distribution Terminal
Facility will deliver compressed natural gas to off-pipeline businesses, municipalities in New York
BOSTON and NEW YORK – November 6, 2014 – Following an announcement last fall that Xpress Natural Gas (XNG) and Direct Energy Business entered an agreement to deliver compressed natural gas (CNG) to off-pipeline industrial and commercial businesses and institutions in the State of New York, construction on the CNG production facility and distribution terminal has begun in Manheim, New York. The facility is anticipated to be fully operational by spring 2015.
“XNG and Direct Energy Business are working together to solve two of the biggest concerns in the New York business community right now via the construction of this terminal – the high cost of traditional energy options, and the lack of competitive alternatives,” said John Nahill, president of XNG. “CNG is enabling companies and communities that currently must rely on expensive heating fuels like oil, propane, and biomass to lower their overall costs, and compete more effectively.”
“Direct Energy Business is uniquely positioned to combine its resources with companies such as XNG to help customers modify their facilities and take advantage of cheaper natural gas prices in North America,” said John Schultz, president of Direct Energy Business. “We are excited about the construction of this facility to help New York State businesses and municipalities save money on their primary fuel costs.”
