Daily market update

Early Morning Update

The Nov16 natural gas contract is flat at $3.07.  The Nov16 crude contract is down $0.43 at $49.29.

Nov16 expired yesterday at $2.764/MMBtu, up 3.3 cents.  Dec16 debuted as the prompt month at $3.068/MMBtu, up 3.2 cents.  The market saw volatility yesterday as the December contract traded as low as $2.99 and as high as $2.09 before ultimately settling up a few cents.  The EIA did report a build into storage of 73 bcf, right at expectations.  The market initially didn’t move, but then became a bit bumpy as the Nov contract moved towards expiration.  Looking at the weather, forecasts are showing very warm temperatures for the next two weeks, with the possibility of more normal conditions as we move into the third week.  The warm conditions have been bearish for NG demand as heating-related demand lags behind last year, and power burns are also muted.  The market will be keenly interested if more normal or even cold conditions move into the picture for the third week of Nov.
