Regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) is a not-for-profit corporation that manages the movement of wholesale electricity in New York. Its primary function is to maintain the reliability of the power grid throughout the region, and Demand Response programs play an important role in achieving this goal.
Since 2004, there has been an average of one to two events per year.
The Distribution Load Relief Program (DLRP) is an emergency management program designed to prevent blackouts. The Commercial System Relief Program (CSRP) is a peak management program meant to keep electric rates from increasing significantly during periods of very high energy usage. Utility programs are available in summer from May to September.
You may generate new, recurring revenue by reducing your electricity consumption through the Direct Energy Business Demand Response program. From customizing your curtailment plan to distributing your monthly payments, we will help simplify your participation.
