As the Independent System Operator for the region, ERCOT’s primary function is to maintain the reliability of the power grid and Demand Response programs play an important role in achieving this goal.

To participate in the Load Resource program, a business must first be registered as a Load Resource with ERCOT, which can take up to 90 days. ERCOT also requires 4-second data and an under-frequency relay (UFR) for Load Resource participation.

  • Customers can participate incrementally through the day-ahead market or contract at a fixed volume for a fixed price for up to three years.
  • Customers have 10 minutes to fully reduce consumption from the start of an event and must immediately curtail via a UFR event occurrence.
