In this week's Energy Market Update, Tim Bigler — Direct Energy Business Energy Strategist — overviews recent changes to PJM's generation mix and the results for the region's 2020/2021 Base Residual Auction (BRA).

PJM Capacity Changes

Beginning this month, approximately 4,800 megawatts (MW) of new generation will come online in the form of new natural gas-fired combined-cycle generation. The new units will likely increase natural gas demand for power generation and serve as price support.
