If you read your electric bill, you will most likely see that electricity is measured and charged by the kilowatt hour.

This video helps break down a kilowatt hour in less than a minute:

As you can see from the video, one kWh is equal to the power consumption of one thousand watts sustained for one hour. It is essentially a building's total energy consumption over a designated period of time.
