2017 Spring Nuclear Maintenance 

Nuclear power plants go on maintenance every spring and fall. This year, nuclear power plant outages will be the highest in nearly 10 years. When nuclear power plants go offline, there can be increased demand for natural gas-fired generation.

Things are changing: 12-month NYMEX natural gas prices are significantly higher year-over-year. Last year, prices touched down around $1.61 while this year's prices are trading around $2.92. 

2018 & 2019 Regional Natural Gas Prices

As we previously reported, there is increasing segmentation for regional natural gas prices. NE Algonquin, NY Iroquis Z2 and Transco Z6 NY remain higher than other regions.
