Direct Energy Business Announces New Solar Partnership with Whole Foods Market and SolarCity

read | Share:

Today, Direct Energy Business – in partnership with Whole Foods Market and SolarCity – is proud to announce a new plan to install solar power systems at Whole Foods Market locations across the United States.

As part of the plan, SolarCity will deliver solar power services for many stores across the Whole Foods Market portfolio, helping retrofit up to 100 stores with rooftop solar. The plan aims to increase the production of solar power and offset some need for traditional grid power while helping Whole Foods Market save money.

Direct Energy Business maintains a close relationship with Whole Foods Market in some of their stores and offers managed products with advisory services for a total energy strategy. Solar is integrated into that strategy to provide solar electricity directly to businesses through a dedicated investment fund established by Direct Energy and SolarCity.

The new solar partnership follows another innovative installation with Johns Hopkins University and SolarCity. The groundbreaking 13.6 megawatt remote solar project will feature more than 40,000 solar panels in Queen Anne's County, Maryland and is  projected to abate 1.4 million metric tons of CO2 over the next two decades.
