Renewable Energy Demand Is on the Rise with Corporate Buyers

read | Share:

U.S. companies are stepping up their investments in renewable energy.

That's according to the 2016 Corporate Advanced Energy Commitments report produced by Advanced Energy Economy (AEE)

The study found that 71 percent of Fortune 100 companies and 43 percent of Fortune 500 companies have now set renewable energy or sustainability targets. Moreover, 22 of Fortune 500 companies have now pursued 100 percent green energy goals.

Importantly, AEE notes that these investments aren't confined to any one industry vertical: "these targets extend across industry segments — again indicating that target-setting is an increasingly normal element of good business practice."

While commitments are on the rise, the report points out that there are still some logistical and regulatory challenges companies face in procuring renewable energy and meeting their energy targets. That's why Direct Energy Business is proud to help 78 percent of Fortune 100 companies — and more than 240,000 businesses across North America — meet their energy goals.
