Innovative technology is fundamentally transforming the way people use energy.

That's the message Direct Energy Business is looking to bring to SXSW Interactive 2017 in Austin, Texas.

We currently have two proposed panel presentations up for voting on SXSW's PanelPicker. "The Carbon Neutral City of the Future" focuses on how innovative energy technology can help support sustainability blueprints for cities and "A Cinderella Story: Getting Bought and Winning Big" will share the story of Direct Energy's acquisition of Panoramic Power, a leading provider of device-level energy management solutions.

Below are the panel descriptions and direct links to the voting.

The Carbon Neutral City of the Future

Of all the energy efficiency goals ever made, is there one more challenging than the Carbon Neutral City? Cities are experiencing explosive growth, so how are they going to produce less carbon yet build and maintain the infrastructure needed to support our growing metropolitans? Some cities are already well on their way. Combining innovation, dedication, and the passion of the people, this panel will explain the course charted for cities as the move towards zero carbon. The hugely successful 2030 district program is creating a sustainable blueprint for cities to follow, and the energy industry is developing products and technology to support that blueprint.

A Cinderella Story: Getting Bought and Winning Big

From growing a successful startup to driving innovation at a big business, Safi Oranski will cover the good, bad and the awesomeness of it all. Oranski will address how his background as one of the core members of Panoramic Power (purchased by Direct Energy in 2015) has prepared him to lead the next BIG thing at Direct Energy. Oranski + team introduced a unique solution that uses innovative wireless sensor technology and a cloud based analytics tool that monitors and analyzes energy usage at the device level. Direct Energy’s strategy manager, Mike D’Aurizio will tell the other side of the acquisition tale and describe the first date, courting period and the benefits of the corporate coupling.

Voting closes next Friday, September 2, 2016, so be sure to cast your vote soon!
