Nest’s New Thermostat Can Save Small Businesses Energy and Money

read | Share:

Nest recently unveiled its 3rd generation learning thermostat.

Today, Direct Energy Business is proud to announce that we will exclusively offer the $249 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat to our small business customers at no cost, at a great fixed rate, and through easy online enrollment.

The new offering is part of our Back to Business Plan, which provides your business with competitive energy rates, significant energy savings, and cutting-edge technology.

Here are some of the 3rd generation Nest Thermostat’s key features that can help your small business save energy and money.

Sleek New Design

The latest Nest thermostat has a 40 percent-larger, brighter, and high-resolution screen with new graphics for easier visibility. The crisp display has 229 pixels per inch (PPI), 25 percent more than the 2nd generation Nest Thermostat. It also has a thinner profile to fit more flush against the wall.

With previous Nest Thermostats, you had to be pretty close – about 3 feet (1 meter) away – to wake up and turn on the display. The new Farsight feature utilizes the new high resolution screen to display useful information on the Nest Thermostat that is visible from across room. Farsight can help you display your target temperature as well as a digital or analog clock.

Furnace Heads-Up

Most heating and forced air furnaces have an automatic shutoff to avoid overheating. The Nest Thermostat will look for shutoff patterns that indicate a persistent problem and notify you with a Heads-Up message in the Nest app, on the thermostat screen, and in your monthly Home Report. The new Furnace Heads-Up capabilities will also be available for 1st and 2nd generation customers later this year.

Integration with Nest Protect and Nest Cam

And, like the 1st and 2nd generation, the 3rd generation Nest Thermostat will include the following integration with Nest Protect and Nest Cam:

  • When Nest Protect sounds a Heads-Up or Emergency Alarm for smoke or carbon monoxide (CO), you’ll also receive a message on the Nest Thermostat display. If there is a CO leak, the Nest Thermostat can automatically shut off all fossil fuel-based heating systems.
  • Nest Protect enhances the Nest Thermostat’s Auto-Away feature by improving Nest’s knowledge of when you’re away.
  • You can set your Nest Cam to begin automatically recording when you switch your Nest Thermostat into Home or Away mode.
