Direct Energy solidifies commitment to Ohio during office opening

On August 5, I had the pleasure of traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to address legislators, members of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, media and others in Direct Energy’s new Capital Square offices. We at Direct Energy are enthusiastic about the state’s growing energy deregulation, and this new office space further solidifies our commitment to Ohio.

Direct Energy currently serves over 350,000 electricity and natural gas customers in Ohio, placing us among the top three competitors to regulated electric utilities. And, with our upcoming acquisition of Hess Energy Marketing, our natural gas business will rank third overall in the state.

Ultimately, we want to be the company, or one of the companies, that gives customers the power to choose their energy supplier to potentially lower their electric bill. People shop around for their cell phone and internet providers, so why not their energy provider?

Earlier in the day before I spoke, Direct Energy employees participated in a volunteer event at the Milo-Grogan Boys & Girls Club. Back in February, we pledged to donate $100,000 over two years to Clubs across the Buckeye State. It is great to see our employees harnessing their energy expertise to make a difference in people’s lives.
