Pennsylvania is fastest-growing natural gas producing state

read | Share:

If you read the newspaper in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on any given day you can almost count on seeing an article about something to do with shale gas. There are many aspects in the Keystone State being impacted as a result of the shale gas development boom that include the economy, the environment, industry, state and local legislation, and government finances. While experts don’t always agree on the resultant benefits or harms of shale gas, it is indisputable that it is having an impact. There is now data to show that Pennsylvania is the fastest-growing natural gas-producing state.

New data from the EIA (Energy Information Administration) confirms Pennsylvania’s dramatic growth as a producer of natural gas. In fact, in just one year, Pennsylvania’s output of natural gas increased by 72% bumping the state to #3 in the nation. And the state is quickly catching up to #2, Louisiana.

With shale growth from Marcellus skyrocketing and the Utica Shale picking up steam, Pennsylvania seems poised to be a key energy producing state for years to come.
