Michigan revs up support for consumer energy choice

read | Share:

On December 10th, House Bill 5184, also known as the Michigan Electric Customer Freedom Act, was officially introduced and referred to the Michigan House of Representatives’ Energy and Technology Committee.

This legislation would eliminate the restriction on electric choice in Michigan. The legislation eliminates the current limitation allowing only 10% of load to switch and creates several other pro-consumer/pro-market changes.

Since the cap was put in place in 2008, Michigan consumers have seen electricity prices skyrocket. As a result, there are currently thousands of customers waiting in queue to receive lower priced electricity and many more that have no option but to pay the way above average market utility rates.

Please show your support of energy consumer choice by writing to or calling your legislators to vote in favor of the Michigan Electric Customer Freedom Act.
